Husband and Wife Team

Mout (pronounced like foot with an “M”) is one of our Hope Now Cambodia staff members. He is from Philadelphia and has lived in Phnom Penh for several years. The work he does with the deported men is amazing, yet his effort to be a Christian leader begins first in his home.

He is married to Mary. She grew up in Cambodia under a Buddhist influence. They have a little son, Abel, and one baby on the way! Mary believed in Jesus Christ for everlasting life after they were married and Mout  disciples her. This week she put her faith into action.

Recently, on a family trip to a little island, Mary came across a man and his wife who fish for a living. Mary struck up a natural conversation with the woman (Sary) and shared the gospel with her in the process. Sary was friendly and accepted the good news gladly. We are praying she will believe.

The days are short, and the Lord will return soon. Jesus Christ delivers the believer from the wrath to come (1st Thessalonians 1:10). But it takes someone to preach the news.

“How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, Who bring glad tidings of good things!” Romans 10:15

It takes boldness for a new disciple like Mary to share the truth of the gospel with a stranger and it takes work for one (Mout) to disciple a new believer. Are they perfect? Mout would say, far from it! But, they are a team and together they set the example of how the Christian life works! Mout, Mary, Abel, and their new arrival will be blessed because of it.
